Earthquake ― Skip Tried To Tell Me

The neighbor’s dog Skip, always says hello with a gentle bark.  Today was different.  I first thought; he really wants to tell me something.  In my hurried state, because of company staying over, I quickly asked if his people were ok.  He responded they were and continued barking, not of stress or emergency, more of; I really want to tell you something.  At that moment my over night company called my attention.

Skip lived in St. Thomas for several years where earthquakes were a normal occurrence, and was familiar with what was about to happen.  It was later I remembered his thoughts had taking me into the ground.  Being in my thinking mode, I took this to be the workers out side of our building who had been working on corrections from a mud slide.

I told a friend about Skip and so wishing I had given him the time he deserved.  She said back, “Even if he had told you, would you have believed it?  We never have earthquakes.”  I realized to some degree she was right.  I then remembered we never have mud slides, and in my minds eye had seen one in the back of our townhome months before it happened.  I did not believe then either.

In these times paying close attention to animals, nature and our instincts is important on many levels―particularly when it does not seem to make sense.

Our Animals Give Us Great Feedback

My dear friend, Suzette Faith Foster, provided a beautiful and loving home for me to stay in for my appearances in Raleigh and Cary N.C.  Suzette shared what she learned in her latest e-news letter Thrive Now. With Suzette’s permission, her perception has been included in this news letter.  I, in turn, share how Suzette’s healing gift supported my family and father who recently passed.

I must include, it was Suzette’s cat, Precious, that brought us together.  Precious created a big domino effect bringing growth and opportunities in countless ways for the two of us and numerous others.

Our Animals Give Us Great Feedback

By Suzette Faith Foster

Our animal’s behavior and illnesses remind us that the vibration we walk around with affects them. Their behavior is direct feedback to what is going on in our minds and households. I was at two events recently with Karen Wrigley, an animal communicator. Participants received individual examples of how animals sense our energy field and mirror our fears, emotions and thoughts. Their behavior can teach us to look within, find balance in our lives and release false beliefs. We are attracted to the animals whose personalities are perfect for the lessons our souls want to learn.

The animals that spoke through Karen reminded us to truly love ourselves. They made it clear that we are to have fun and to laugh more and to see the divine Being that we are instead of the limited person we grew up believing we are. They reminded us that we often look outside of ourselves for answers when with quiet time and reflection answers will be revealed from within. Their wisdom can reveal pertinent information regarding our health, relationships, life styles or just ways that our thoughts are communicated to them. One in a family of four cats shared how his two adults have confusing opinions. When they would put the cats out for the night, this cat would hide under the bed not wanting to go out. Karen’s reading revealed that this cat was the husband’s favorite– they had been together before the marriage. He would agree verbally that all the cats should be out at night but emotionally he didn’t want his favorite cat to leave. The cat felt this energy and confusion and would hide under the bed. When the husband understands his role in the cat’s behavior he can adjust his attitude.

Before and after my appearance in Raleigh, my father was close to passing over.  In this time frame, Suzette included my father, family and me in her healing sessions.  My family and nurses could not understand why he was not passing over.  It seemed obvious to us it was time, and had been for several weeks.  I have to admit, I was a bit selfish, I hoped he would wait til I returned from Raleigh.

My father was close to receiving an inheritance.  If he passed before it was put in his name, my mother would not receive it.  Suzette did not know this, she simply puts her healing work in God’s hands.  Four days after I returned from my stay with Suzette, my father was given his inheritance.  We so wanted our father to be in peace earlier on, yet the inheritance was a blessing to my mother.  The next day while my family and father were wrapped in Suzette’s healing session my father passed over.

I have taken notice that my family and I handled the weeks before, at death, and now, with greater ease than one might expect.    Thank you Suzette for your love and support.

Happy is Happy and Sad is Sad

Happy is happy and sad is sad.  One can not fool an animal which one you are.  I have heard many say, I’m fine, Okay, I am making my way.  This is not truly happy. Happy is a state of the mind. And it is possible to be happy in spite of what one is experiencing or sees.

A terrier named Scout said, Keep doing it (being happy) — you will get it and it will be close to the way of life I like to live innately. We mirror you because you are the ones we look up to, and it is our job to show you who you truly are being. We are also the ones who are trying to show you it is important to be happy. It is simple:  To be happy is active, not passive. Also, happiness is not always what “you” thought happy would be for you….following innate happiness can lead one to something better than you thought  it could be.

Purple People Eater

An interesting thing has happened on my way through the past several months.  I have been sharing more deliberate information that speaks not only of thinking out of the box in which we live, but living outside of the box.  Life is taking on a new paradigm.  I have read about this from many sources, the animals speak of it, and most importantly, I feel it in my bones. I am learning to embrace an easier, trusting way of living―living in the present.
I find circumstances that used to bother or upset me, do not. A big one is―there are close people in my life that may be passing over. Now and then I feel a tinge of fear or grief, but then quickly go to what the other side is about and I become happy for them―sometimes, I which could be there too.  To not fear death, it has been said, is the end of all fears.  Yet I have more to learn.
In the past few days I have had important emails disappear.  I spent many an hour looking for them, not to be found.  I asked for guidance, and from my spiritual ear, I heard: Purple People Eater.  (Yes, you read that correctly.)  An inquisitive smile came to my face.  And I thought I was going to write a message from an animal.  I got the Purple People Eater!  I guess in some form this purple beast could be associated with the animal kingdom.
I researched Purple People Eater.  The words come from a song from 1958, a silly whimsical fun song. The short version of what this message meant to me:  lighten up, have fun.  The color purple is associated with the higher realms, let it consume or eat my mucky energy.  All will work out fine in spite of losing my emails.  And it did.
Another version:  Don’t be eaten up by the Purple People Eater, or don’t let obstacles in life eat you up.  The lost emails were consuming me.
With that said:
1.     To those who emailed me and did not hear back, if you wish to send a second letter, please do.
2.     In my last news letter I gave a message from a cat that was sleeping more and had oily hair.  To the lady whose email got eaten up, that made the comment that when a cat sleeps more and its hair becomes oily, it is a sign of illness and should be checked by a veterinarian:  I thank you for your comment, a valid one.  I apologize I do not have your specific words.
Once again expect the unexpected.  And now I will draw a picture of the Purple People Eater and post it on my wall…a reminder.
I ask, what is going on in your life the Purple People Eater should feast on?

Oliver Just Couldn’t Have Done Better!

By Barb Dunn

Right before taking Oliver to his new home. I had already cleaned up running mascara once from my tears.

Right before taking Oliver to his new home. I had already cleaned up running mascara once from my tears.

On Tuesday morning, June 21, a lady at the Caterpillar Logistics facility in Southaven, MS where I work heard meowing signs from her engine after she arrived at work.  She had to remove parts of her engine in order to extract a little kitten, who was extremely fortunate to have survived a car ride in the engine of the car.  The little kitten was placed in a box on the floor of the facility in the hopes that someone would adopt him.

As the day wore on, I learned that no one had adopted him.  I also noticed that he seemed sick – lethargic and not bright-eyed as most kittens are.  I looked more closely into the box and saw that he had had a bowel movement that was green, runny and contained worms.  Immediately, I called a local vet who was about 5 minutes away and made an appointment for that afternoon to take him in.  I named him Oliver because, well, he looked like an Oliver!

The little guy had about a dozen ticks on him and fleas to boot.  After getting a bath at the vet’s, I was able to pick the ticks and fleas off him.  Poor little Oliver; he was being eaten alive from both the inside and out.  No wonder he had felt so poorly.

He tested negative for feline leukemia and AIDS, so with the medicine in tote, I figured he’d make a full recovery and be able to find a good home.  From Tuesday to Friday, I carted him back and forth from the hotel to work, feeding him the best grain-free food and giving him his meds.  Even within 24 hours, he was doing so much better.  I have to admit – it was REALLY nice having him cuddle with me in the hotel room.  It wasn’t lost on me that he is the consummate cat-companion – very lively and playful and yet almost like a barnacle; right by my heel wherever I walked, meowing to be picked up and cuddled.  How can your heart not melt when he pleads with you to be held and then buries himself into your chest and neck, purring loudly?!!

With the help of an accomplice, I had to smuggle him into and out of the facility where I work.  Even though I’m the facility manager and don’t have to worry about a disapproving boss, I do have an onsite client and didn’t want to find out the hard way that I couldn’t bring Oliver to work.  Fortunately, the Drury Inn is a pet-friendly hotel so I didn’t need to smuggle him in there.

Since we already have 8 cats, Rick and I decided (somewhat reluctantly because he’s adorable!) to try to find him a forever home.  So on Friday just before I left Southaven for the long trek back to Indy, Rick sent out a mass email to everyone in his company (Forum Credit Union) and within 30 minutes received a reply back from a lady who said she was “VERY interested” in adopting him.  Her husband had lost his feline constant companion of 14 years, Mango, last year and melted when he saw a picture of Oliver.

Oliver was an absolute charm on the trip from Southaven.  For about 10 hours, he slept on my lap, purring at times when he wasn’t quite asleep.  I have to admit that I was really lukewarm about giving him up.

By Saturday, he had met all our cats and Eddie; our youngest (1 year old) befriended him instantly.  I cried buckets on the way to his new home.

It turns out that we couldn’t have found him a better home.  Rick and I both had requested an MBO (most benevolent outcome) from the universe for the best home possible and lo and behold, he got it!  His new mom, Sherrie, absolutely adores him.  But his new dad, Jeff, is COMPLETELY smitten with him!  Jeff reminds me a lot of Rick – a completely doting cat dad.

I was really relieved to learn that he would be an indoor-only cat and that he would not be declawed and nor would he be loaded up with unnecessary vaccines.  They were also very enthusiastic about putting him on a grain-free diet.  (We brought over about a dozen different grain-free flavors for them to try.)  Best of all, he’s with a family that adores him.  After spending time with them Saturday evening, I learned they would’ve been crushed if we had changed our minds about adopting Oliver out.  Sherrie and Jeff and their teenage boy and girl were texting and posting to Facebook about how excited they were about their new family member.  I hadn’t been on the fence about whether to adopt him out, just sad that he wouldn’t be part of our lives anymore.  (They did agree to let us visit him though!)

Oliver slept on Sherrie’s lap for about 2 hours straight and then went to Jeff to be cuddled for awhile.  When the kids came home from a movie, Oliver woke up and started playing like mad, racing around the house, beating up toys that belong to the other feline family member, Saebo.  He was having such fun playing and zooming around that he didn’t even notice when we left.  This was a good thing, in my eyes even though I had become very attached to him within less than a week’s time because he is a loving little soul and I have a special place in my heart for him after saving his life.

It was really obvious to Rick and me that Oliver had been placed into the right family.  In our family, he would’ve been well-loved, well-fed and cared for, but he would have been one of nine cats.  In his new family, he’s one of two cats and is very much the center of attention with Sherrie, Jeff and the two kids.  Oliver just couldn’t have done better!

Incredible Critter Quotes

They constantly surprise me.  Why?  Animals consistently give profound messages that are spot on, and their person is deeply influenced by it.

A couple of my recent favorite quotes:

This message came from an elderly cat that had lost weight and was spending the majority of her time sleeping.
People look at me and feel sorry for me when I am actually feeling good.
This is common; many project their emotions onto an animal because of their own fears, misunderstandings of what the animal is experiencing, or fear losing them.
This is one reason people call me!

An eleven year old Rhodesian Ridge Back gave good advice to her person wanting to fix her married son’s life. The dog’s message says it all!
Giving people pearls of wisdom is good. Making them eat it is not!
How many can put their hands up on giving advice?  The dog’s suggestion to the mother:  Listen and ask questions to the son to stimulate his own thinking to support him in finding the answers that suit him best.

Would you like to hear a message from a sparrow and an octopus?

Seems rather odd to put sparrow and octopus in the same sentence, but that is the way it happened. Both gave a message to our listeners on www.blogtalkradio.com/thehonoringhour. Look in the archives under Experiencing You! Animal Communication and Channeled Message.
Octopus gave his message on June 1st, and sparrow’s message was on May 4th.

The times may seem challenging to many, yet there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Appreciate each moment, stay cool, calm, and love yourselves, so that you will be bright and happy when you arrive on the other side.

Nectar or Negativity

As I walked through my neighborhood, a buzzing sound brought my attention to a flowering tree filled with fragrance. Bees were enjoying sweet flowing bountiful nectar. Symbiotic, bees enjoying tree’s gift, and tree enjoying bee’s gift of song and pollination, a sweet relationship. My mind spirals… to be like a bee, to simply be. Simplicity brings the state of being to me.

In the state of being, one is aware of and is naturally drawn to sweetness. Like a bee to nectar, allow ones self to be drawn to, accept and enjoy a good life.

I no longer pay attention to lack or troubles from the media or people. Why? One begins believing the messages they fed us and begins living that life.  It is our choice….eat of nectar or negativity.

Animal Messages from 2010

1. Live in the moment

2. When you love, respect, have patience, are confident and trust yourselves, it helps us tremendously.

3. From pack animals―We love to be with you. You need to teach and socialize us so that we can be what you need us to be. If we behave and know what the rules are, you are more likely to take us with you.

4. We are animals, treat us like an animal. We are not a child or a toy. We like dirt, sticks, trees, grass, lots of exercise, training and socializing to fit into your world.

3. Allow your feelings or emotions help with making decisions. When it feels good, it is good. Then use your brain to analyze how.  We trust our instincts, trust yours.

5. We are simple thinking; do not over think our behavior, give us simple, clear guidance.

6. Taking care of yourselves, ultimately, doing so will help us too.  When you see us look at you with meaningful eyes, it is not always about us, at times, it is about you.  Look at your life and see if it is reflecting onto us.

7. Breathe fully, breathe in life, doing so helps calm oneself and see life more clearly.

8. Play, play, play.  Don’t take life so seriously.

10. Take time to smell other animals pee or poo…Oops―for you―roses.

11. What you “think” the New Year will be, is what it will be. Think wisely.

Animals come into our lives for a myriad of reasons. Today I will speak of self love.

The importance of self love, particularly over the holidays, has been drawn to my attention by Suzette Faith Foster.*

I have listened to many clients express that they feel selfish for acts of helping them self. Yet, when one does not take care of oneself they begin to feel empty, tired, and frustrated, the list goes on and on. Does this actually serve others? It is important to lovingly nurture oneself. When we are happy and fulfilled it is a gift to many. Give the gift of love to your self and encourage others to do the same.

So what does this have to do with animals? I witness quite often that when a client does not love them self enough to take care of their own needs, they reflect their unbalanced behavior or thoughts on to their animal. Many do not realize that when they are out of balance they soon will see an issue with their animal. Their animal companion could be peeing on the floor, become more vocal, or other unwanted behaviors. Animals know when we feel good or bad, and usually take these traits on themselves. I have said many times animals reflect us. Through the selfless act of wanting a loved animal to be happy one learns it is good to be selfish or love thyself for the greater good.
